Often walked past on our way in to Brighton, Green Tomato is one of many cafes on the fringes of the city centre that could easily be missed. So we decided to try and set that right by giving them their moment in the spotlight. So was it worth stopping off or should we have kept on walking?

Another cheap and cheerful cafe.  I wasn’t initially intending to eat but I thought I would try their ‘Light Breakfast’ to keep TeaMilkOneSugar company while he dined on his veggie breakfast.  Surrounded by regular customers who were on first name terms with the owners, the atmosphere was laid back and friendly and definitely added to the experience.

The breakfast I tried won’t win any awards for ingredient quality, but the portion was large, served piping hot and it’s price, £3.95, won’t break the bank.  The veggie breakfast (£4.95) was the same, with very little complaints coming from TeaMilkOneSugar.  I must admit I was envious of his hash browns and would have liked one of those golden potato treats on my plate to help soak up the bean juice.

With friendly staff and good quality drinks its worth dropping in if ever you are in the need of a quick breakfast fix or a relaxing drink, though if you are looking for a bit more variety and quality on the menu I would keep heading down Western Road into town.
