As a rule of thumb you can usually tell from the outside of a building whether the breakfast is going to be worth it. Ok, this model has had a couple of blips over the last few years, but it's mostly solid. Spotted at mile 3 of the Brighton Marathon, this attractive Kemp Town establishment sits at the top of an area full of B&B’s, restaurants and cafes. A visit on a sunny Sunday morning presented a chance to see whether the breakfasts were as impressive as the building they were being served in.

A lazy Sunday without the Mrs around meant that the boys had to keep themselves occupied. Our Romanian correspondent Count Cumberland was back in the country and had eyed up Slice Sussex on his internet travels, so we made our way there for a late breakfast.
