Green tea
I have had tea twice at Teddys Tea Room in Shoreham by Sea.
The tea I had was excellent (jasmine) but this was not my first choice. When I requested Green Tea on my first visit I was brought Jasmine tea. This was very good but upon paying I mentioned that I had requested `green tea` I got a look of incomprehension. I explained that green tea is a particular variety of tea that was not the same as jasmine tea, I left it there.
I returned some weeks later and ordered green tea and was given a menu, the waitress said there was a list of green teas on the menu. when I looked at it I could see that there a heading of green tea (another for white tea etc) .below the list headed green tea was jasmine tea, mint tea and so on but nothing described as green tea . I tried to question the waitress about whether they had a variety of tea called green tea which is an unfermented type of tea . I was curtly informed that all the green teas available are on the menu.
I gave up at that point but am surprised that a tea room evidently selling (very good) speciality teas do not seem to know what green tea is. I resisted explaining that `green tea is not just a description of the colour but is a specific variety. I also resisted suggesting that next time either of the 2 waitresses are in any supermarket they should have a look at the tea section where they will see many different types of tea including jasmine tea, mint tea, camomile tea and (in big letters denoting the type of tea !!) GREEN TEA!!!
I guess it is not my job to educate them but next time I will go somewhere where they know what green tea is !
